  • Cannabis, or marijuana, is legally defined as Cannabis sativa L. that has more than 0.3% THC by dry weight, while hemp has less than 0.3% THC by dry weight.
  • The primary cannabinoid in hemp flowers is CBD, or Cannabidiol, an ingredient found in health and wellness products.
  • Parts of the hemp plant (other than flowers) can also be used to produce other products such as hemp seed for food consumption and fiber for construction, textiles, and more.

  • ​Yes, hemp farmers, like any other cultivator applicant, may apply to receive a medical cannabis license. If awarded a license, hemp farmers may grow medical cannabis indoors; medical cannabis may not be grown outdoors.
