On January 2, 2025, the Office joined the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet on the Bluegrass Beat Podcast to discuss the recent legalization of medical cannabis. They discussed key aspects of the new law, resources, and critical information about the legislation with Ingrid Geiser, Legal Training Instructor at the Department of Criminal Justice Training. On December 17, 2024, the Department of Criminal Justice Training ("DOCJT") posted a Roll Call Video to talk about the legalization of medical cannabis, providing an overview for law enforcement. You can watch the video here: DOCJT Roll Call Video​.

Trainings and Presentations

The Office's Outreach Team is able to provide presentations and/or trainings to interested law enforcement organizations. If you would like to schedule a presentation by a representative from the Office, please fill out the Event Participation Form and email to Malaya.Rivers@ky.gov at least two weeks prior to the event.​

Law Enforcement FAQs

  • A registered, qualified patient will not be arrested or incur other penalties for carrying medical cannabis if the patient does not possess more than the amount of medical cannabis deemed necessary by their physician.

  • No, using medical cannabis is not allowed in any correctional facilities.
